Everyone has experienced awkward moments where what they really wanted to say was not socially appropriate. Now the Fremont Area Writers Zoom social write-in on Sept. 12, offers a chance to respond to prompts that imagine similar awkward moments.
This is an opportunity to respond to one of several writing prompts in a judgment-free environment and to meet a helpful community of local writers of all abilities. This is not a critique session. Writing will not be judged, so writers can relax and create something that satisfies them. The write-in is free and open to anyone who wants to write regardless of experience.
How the write-in works:
At the write-in, the computer randomly assigns four writers to each Zoom room. Writers are given several prompts. They choose one and write whatever comes to mind for 10 minutes. At the end of the writing time, each person in the room reads their response. There is no expectation that the result will be polished or complete. Writers will then be reassigned to a different Zoom room and a different writing challenge.
The Write-In is sponsored by Fremont Area Writers (FAW), a branch of the California Writers Club. FAW also meets on Zoom from 2 to 4pm monthly where speakers address some aspect of writing or publishing. The Sept. 26 speaker is mystery writer and teacher Margaret Lucke who will present on the anatomy of the short story. Participants do not need to live in Fremont to attend.
