Fremont Art Association (FAA) is delighted to have Vidyut Singhal as the guest artist at its virtual General Meeting and Art Demo on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 1pm.
An accomplished painter, Singhal started her creative journey with watercolor, wash and tempera as her techniques of choice for painting on paper and silk. Most recently, she has turned her focus on impressionistic style of impasto painting using acrylic. In her demo, “The Power of Impasto Painting with Acrylic,” Singhal will showcase her palette knife techniques in creating her dramatic and colorful landscapes.
Singhal holds bachelor’s degrees in fine arts and graphic design. It wasn’t until her retirement from a career as a corporate graphic designer and after raising her family, that she would have the time to return to and fully embrace her passion for painting. It’s enjoyable seeing the full range of Singhal’s body of work which includes varied subjects from village life in India to depictions of traditional celebrations and mythological stories. It’s equally wonderful and fascinating to witness her migration toward her current impressionistic style of impasto painting.
Singhal’s stunning impressionistic impasto creations with their buttery layers of paint exude a sense of energy and excitement that elicit a pure response to her mesmerizing contrasts of colors. Through the textural elements of her paintings, coupled with her emphasis on the effects of light, Singhal can capture and reveal the beauty and true nature of her subjects.
