July 18 and 19 are the dates for this year’s Japanese Bazaar. Admission is free and will include food, games, entertainments, a Japanese boutique, Japanese treasures and collectibles sale and more.
This year, Southern Alameda Buddhist Church will host a beer garden, a popular attraction for enjoying Japanese and domestic brews. As in previous years, there will be something for everyone, and fun for the whole family.
Japanese cuisine served includes chicken teriyaki, gyoza, udon, sushi and manju. Attendees can also choose teri burgers, corn-on-the-cob, shaved ice and sodas. There will be ample indoor seating.

There will be games for kids and adults, including demon smash, duck pond and other arcade games. This year, we’re introducing a “Baachan’s Closet” tent, which offers many treasures and collectibles for sale.
Activities will include O-Nami Taiko (Japanese drums), Kendo, an Ikebana exhibit and a Buddhism mini-lecture: Intro to Buddhism at 2pm, Saturday and Sunday, by Rev. Dr. Takashi Miyaji. The Japanese boutique inside the hall offers handmade crafts, books and more.
