The League of Women Voters of Fremont, Newark & Union City will host the next installment of our speaker series, Defending Our Democracy, on the critical topic of antisemitism.
This free community program examines the rise of antisemitism and its broader implications for our democratic institutions and civic life. The event will address how antisemitism—one of the world’s oldest forms of hatred—continues to evolve in modern society.
It will explore the origins of antisemitism, how it is both alike and different from other forms of bigotry, how it fuels broader forms of antidemocratic extremism, and how it ultimately makes everyone feel less safe. Additionally, we will learn how to counter antisemitism on both a personal level and at the community level.
The speaker is Karen Stiller, senior director of Jewish Affairs for the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Bay Area (JCRC). A resident of Fremont, Karen is deeply committed to interfaith work and currently serves as chair of Fremont’s Human Relations Commission.
At the conclusion of the presentation, there will be plenty of time for questions/comments. This program is FREE and open to all members of the community (donations accepted).
