Historic rancho opens for day of education April 18

Families of graduating and incoming 4th grade students may attend

Rancho del Agua Caliente will be open to 4th grade families on Saturday, April 18. Belonging to Fulgencio Higuera during the rancho period of California’s history, the site is now owned by the City of Fremont.

Families can dip candles; design a brand, form an adobe brick and brand a cow using paint, felt and authentic brands. They can even try roping the steer! There will be docents onsite, as well as a video about park restoration, and the museum will be open. There’s also an adobe building (built in 1840) where visitors can learn about the hide and tallow trade.

The event is great for students both exiting and entering 4th grade, plus their families. Feel free to bring a picnic lunch. A donation of $5 per family is greatly appreciated.

Hosted by Washington Township Museum of Local History. No RSVP required. museumoflocalhistory.org
