The Association of Indo Americans (AIA) proudly celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at the India Community Center in Milpitas, California. The event drew over 1,500 attendees and 15 elected officials, bringing together community members, cultural organizations, and elected officials to commemorate India’s constitutional legacy, democratic values, and rich cultural heritage.
The venue was decorated in vibrant colors symbolizing the tricolor of the Indian national flag, creating a festive and patriotic atmosphere.
The celebration featured engaging cultural programs, including AIA Idol singing competitions and dance performances set to patriotic songs, which took place before and after the official Republic Day ceremonies. These performances highlighted the artistic talent within the community and reflected India’s unity in diversity.
Prior to the elected officials being invited to the stage, representatives from AIA’s supporting organizations shared their Republic Day greetings and messages of unity.

In their remarks, speakers spoke highly of India’s steadfast commitment to democracy and its continued practice of democratic principles. They emphasized that celebrating India’s Republic Day is an opportunity to reflect on our rights and responsibilities as citizens and to reaffirm our commitment to democratic ideals. Speakers also highlighted that many nations have endured long struggles to achieve independence and sovereignty, encouraging communities to continue to preserve, cherish, and learn from these success stories.
