Vallejo Mill Historical Park needs kids park

Resident says in addition to pickleball courts and dog parks, Fremont needs playgrounds

This refers to your community report under “New city park highlights wider parking issue” published on July 21 by Stephnie Uchida.

I learned through your weekly that on June 17, Vallejo Mill Historical Park opened with a new dog park and pickleball courts, located on the hillside of Mission, off Mission Boulevard.

And I was happy to welcome it as a new addition in the city for neighboring residents.

Surely, the city designated this park as a community park to serve the broader Fremont community while providing new access to recreational amenities for surrounding neighborhoods.

But to my knowledge, there is already a dog park located behind the Fremont Police building so we don’t need another dog park next to pickleball court.

Logically speaking, a dog park next to pickleball court makes no sense to me but is a nuisance for players who can get disturbed by non-stop barking. Am I right?

We Fremont parents and our kids/grandkids are desperately looking for an additional small section or park area exclusively for kids where we can take them for games and/or rides with a healthy surrounding. Vallejo Mill Historical Park is ideally located from all avenues.

I urge the city officials to reconsider this dog park to be used for kids instead.
