Union City hosts Mutt Strut 2026

Day combines fantastic fun, furry friends and family festivities

Attention all pet lovers and their four-legged friends! The New Haven Schools Foundation (NHSF) invites all to tail-wagging fun in support of the students of the New Haven Unified School District (NHUSD) at the Mutt Strut 2026, held at the Masonic Homes on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Registration starts at 8am, where attendees can enjoy coffee and breakfast burritos at a park at the base of the hill. The strut itself starts at 9am, with light stretching led by NHUSD students and a scenic walk with the dogs up the hillside. Along the route through the Masonic Homes campus, there will be designated lookout points for views of the Tri-Cities and the Bay.

After the strut, the fun continues back down in the park. DJ Bennet will provide music, and Pluto, Goofy, Garfield and friends will make the rounds for selfies. Dogs can show off at a pet trick contest, costume contest and hot dog eating contest.

Funds will support New Haven students. Last May, New Haven Schools Foundation awarded close to $300,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors and $100,000 in teacher grants. This year’s event is sponsored by Masonic Homes of California, Supervisor Elisa Marquez, Alameda County District 2, Fremont Bank, Republic Services, Washington Health, Al and Marsha Badella, and Tri-Ced Community Recycling.

All participants will receive breakfast, an event t-shirt and a goody bag (while supplies last).
