Last Wednesday, June 10, two young Fremont women—Harshita Nair, 21, and Mahial Sran, 20—were swept out into the ocean at a Santa Cruz County beach, reports NBC Bay Area. It’s speculated that they had gone to sleep under a natural archway between Panther Beach and Yellow Bank Beach and were then swept out by the tide.
Although rescue crews retrieved both women from the water and transported them to the hospital, the women did not survive. One died on Thursday, and the other’s death was announced June 15.
