The Design Process—Putting Images on Glass

Fremont Art Association (FAA) is delighted to have Emelie Rogers as the guest artist at its virtual General Meeting and Art Demo on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 1 p.m.

Rogers is a surface design artist whose surface of choice is glass. She loves the process of transforming her design vision into beautiful glass creations that pop with vibrant colors and exude a sense of joy. As Rogers explains it, her creative process is a matter of planning, experimentation, and the luck of the “kiln gods.” In her demo, The Design Process—Putting Images on Glass, Rogers will showcase her approach and technique of enamel painting on glass.

Becoming an artist has been a lifelong dream for Rogers and through the course of her career in business and education she dedicated time for art classes. Among the various institutions and community organizations where she cultivated her knowledge of art history and artistic and aesthetic skills, include surface design studies at the California School of Professional Fabric Design and a myriad of classes at the College of San Mateo and Ohlone College. Upon retirement Rogers was ready to actively pursue her aspirations for a creative life.

Today, her charming body of work reflects her openness in welcoming challenge and change. While Rogers has an ongoing passion working with metal inclusions, her work also focuses on various processes including painting with enamels, silk screening with glass powders as well as casting and fabricating glass.
