On Friday, August 21 at approximately 12:13pm Fremont Police Department received reports of a shooting at a residence on San Pedro Drive.
After an investigation, it was determined that the incident began as an armed residential burglary. Two teenage suspects forced an entry into the apartment and assaulted the occupants.
During the altercation, one occupant gained control of the firearm and shot toward the intruders, wounding one of the suspects. According to police, the teen was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The second suspect fled the scene but was later located, identified and booked at the Juvenile Justice Center for residential burglary and felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
The occupants sustained non-life threatening injuries.
This is Fremont’s third homicide in 2026.
