Summer means new beginnings

Downtown Hayward welcomes new businesses and looks forward to festival season

As summer arrives, Downtown Hayward is buzzing with new business openings, community celebrations and opportunities to explore everything the neighborhood has to offer.

New Businesses

Downtown Hayward continues to grow with several new businesses joining the neighborhood this season.

Tea lovers can look forward to visiting Dali Tea, which is gearing up to open its doors in the former Once Tea location. Offering a refreshing selection of beverages and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s the perfect stop for an afternoon pick-me-up.

Shoppers searching for more premium clothes can check out Elegance Factory, opening in the former Alma’s Creations space. Specializing in tuxedos, suits, blazers and shoes, the store offers stylish options for everything from business events and formal occasions to everyday professional wear.

Meanwhile, Con Azúcar Cafe recently celebrated its grand opening, bringing a fresh blend of specialty coffee, handcrafted beverages and sweet treats to downtown. Inspired by Latin flavors and community connection, the cafe offers a welcoming space for residents and visitors to gather, relax and enjoy a taste of something new.

Founded by Alejandra Gonzalez, Alan Jimenez, and Ruben Jimenez, the popular coffee shop franchise that first launched in San Jose has now expanded to Hayward—a city that holds special meaning for the founders, who attended school there in their youth.

A new chapter for a downtown favorite

One of Downtown Hayward’s longtime businesses celebrates  an exciting milestone this month. Erik’s DeliCafe officially reopened on June 1 following a rebrand and ownership transition.

What makes Erik’s rebrand especially meaningful is that the new owner began as an employee, spending years working at the deli before eventually saving enough to purchase the business himself. Now, after years of dedication and hard work, he is leading the next chapter of a beloved local establishment while continuing the community-focused service that customers have come to know and love.

Summer street parties

Summer fun has officially arrived as Downtown Hayward kicks off another season of its popular Street Parties. The first was June 18, and parties continue the third Thursday of July and August from 5 to 9pm. Residents and visitors can enjoy lively evenings filled with live music, local vendors, delicious food and opportunities to connect with neighbors and local businesses.

These community celebrations have become a summertime tradition and offer the perfect way to experience the vibrant energy of Downtown Hayward.
