Every year, Niles has a jam-packed schedule of events from the beauty of the Wildflower, Art, and Garden Show to celebrate spring; Niles Spring Fever and Hot August Niles Car Shows; Niles Antique Faire and ending the season, the Niles Festival of Lights parade. Each of these has been around for many years, growing in popularity and bringing the community together.
This year, the Niles Main Street Association (NMSA) is going above and beyond in bringing the community together. Right around the corner, the Niles Concerts on the Plaza Music Series kicks off in June for five months of fabulous music and fun. The first concert on June 14, from 4 to 6pm features Dogweeds, who draw inspiration from the Western Swing dance bands of the 1930s and 40s, but with a modern take.
After the Dogweeds get those feet moving, enjoy an evening of country line dancing at 6pm at the Niles Town Plaza. Led by Cole, learn the steps and then have fun trying them out. All summer long, stick around after each concert for dancing from 6 to 8pm. View the full concert and dance listings on the NMSA website.
Every Wednesday before the concert weekend, Essanay Silent Film Museum will feature move nights matching the weekend concert and dance themes. The first one is on June 10, Three Amigos, starring Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short. The doors open at 6pm, feature begins at 7pm. Tickets are $10.
Niles Main Street Association thanks the community for making the first Niles Sip & Stroll an incredible success. Seventeen local businesses served light bites and hosted wine and beer from Fremont, Sunol and Livermore for over 250 participants. Keep an eye out for another Sip & Stroll happening this fall, Oktoberfest style.
The Niles Main Street Association is a 501c3 organization devoted to preserving the Niles district. For more information, visit niles.org.
