The U.S. midterm elections are around the corner.
And recent polls show Americans increasingly blame President Trump for the high cost of gasoline and groceries. It’s true. Without any doubt, just 17% approve of his handling of inflation. This is what we are watching. No gimmick!
A new poll from AP-NORC indicated that 65% of adults blame Trump’s administration policies for persistently high costs more than factors outside of his control, and continued unhappiness with the war against Iran.
The fact of the matter is: About half of U.S. adults say they are extremely concerned about being able to fill their vehicle’s full tank. Needless to say, food prices are exorbitant as well. Indeed, Trump’s current approval on the economy is a 14% point drop from March 2025, just after he took office for the second time.
Politically speaking, about six in 10 Republicans disapprove of Trump’s handling of the cost of living, according to the new poll.
Undoubtedly, Americans are unhappy with Trump’s trade war, as three in 10 U.S. adults approve of how he is handling trade negotiations with other countries. He had “gone too far” when imposing new tariffs on neighboring Canada.
From my modest analysis, overall inflation adds much pressure on household budgets and businesses as our midterm elections are weeks away.
I have a question: Is there a solution for inflation by the Trump administration?
