Hayward volleyball brings home silver

Union Volleyball Academy gets runner-up at national championships

Union Volleyball Academy’s (UVA) 16 Matt team brought home a silver medal after an outstanding performance at the 2026 USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship (GJNC), finishing as the national runner-up in one of the country’s premier youth volleyball tournaments.

Competing against top club teams from across the nation, UVA 16 Matt advanced through a highly competitive field with exceptional teamwork, resilience and determination. Their runner-up finish is one of the program’s most significant achievements and reflects the hard work and dedication of the athletes, coaches and families throughout the season.

Based in Hayward, Union Volleyball Academy has become one of Northern California’s premier volleyball clubs, committed to developing student-athletes both on and off the court. The success of the 16 Matt team highlights the strength of the program and the continued growth of youth volleyball in the local community.

UVA 16 Matt finished the tournament with an impressive 10-2 record, suffering its only two defeats to the eventual national champions—first in pool play and again in the championship match.

The national runner-up finish is a historic milestone for Union Volleyball Academy, representing just the second podium finish in club history for this age group at the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship.
