Fall is in full swing in Downtown Hayward, and the district continues to offer plenty of ways to explore, shop, dine and connect.
Taste of Hayward
The Second Annual Taste of Hayward returns Thursday, Oct. 22, bringing together local restaurants, food lovers and community members for an evening of food, drinks and connection. With more than 25 local restaurants and eateries participating, the event offers attendees the opportunity to discover new favorites while supporting the businesses that make Downtown Hayward unique. The success of last year’s event encouraged many restaurants to return this year.
Last-minute tickets can be purchased at tasteofhayward.com.
New Businesses
The Color Wheel Studio recently opened its doors at 1013 B St., bringing a creative new destination for pottery painting to Downtown Hayward. Guests can choose a piece of pottery, select their colors and take their time creating something of their own. The studio welcomes walk-ins and reservations, making it a fun option for individuals, families and groups looking for a hands-on creative experience.
Also new to the district is Bay Area Doula Services and Wellness Center, which opened at 1035 B St. at the end of September. The center brings pregnancy, postpartum and maternal wellness services together under one roof, offering doula care, prenatal and postpartum pilates, massage, baby hydrotherapy and other wellness services for families throughout the Bay Area.
Rolla Cabin is also adding to Hayward’s dining scene, offering fresh sushi rolls and hot Japanese dishes at 22724 Foothill Blvd. The business also offers Japanese catering and private chef experiences for gatherings and special events.
Local Artists
Art is also taking center stage in Downtown Hayward this fall with College Art in the Heart of the Bay, an exhibition featuring works by Chabot College and CSU East Bay art students. The exhibit is on display at the John O’Lague Galleria in Hayward City Hall from Sept. 10 through Nov. 6.
Día de los Muertos
There is still time to experience the Hayward Area Historical Society’s Day of the Dead exhibition, on display through Nov. 7. The community-driven exhibition features works by local artists, including students, celebrating Día de los Muertos and the traditions, art and symbolism surrounding the holiday.
