I have been living in the city (Fremont) for 25+ years and driving through Paseo Padre Pkwy onto Grimmer Blvd almost every day. And noticing, that the 0.5 mile un-asphalted/unused road on the right side [of Grimmer] was being ignored for years.
Of course, I fail to understand why the city is not considering widening it for a smooth traffic flow where at present there are two lanes that are inadequate for heavy traffic all day long.
For record’s sake, I sent a couple of letters to the editor on the subject to this weekly (TCV) in the past for the attention of the city mayor and traffic dept to conduct a survey whether or not it is feasible, but it turned out to be unheeded.
I am sure if the subject area with two additional lanes is being asphalted there would be less traffic congestion for most drivers heading to Auto Mall Parkway which connects to Freeway 880 towards San Jose, especially during the morning commuters hour.
Hoping somebody in the City Traffic Department will read this letter and take my suggestion into consideration for the benefit of drivers on this route.
