From Sept. 4 to 25, the Sun Gallery is holding its second exhibit in its “Legacy Series, Rick Wise: Images.”
Reflecting on the collection, Wise says, “Life is so full of conflicting strands. These images are my way to cohere opposites. Every image starts out as a photograph I’ve taken, or more often as a group of them. Some catch views and objects we frequently take for granted. Some simultaneously compress and expand time. Chance plays a large role. Most often I swirl multiple photographs together using many Photoshop layers to compress, stretch, blend, offset into a new whole.”
“Legacy” shows, which began in 2025 at the Sun, celebrate artists who have worked in creative fields over many decades. On Saturday, Sept. 12, from 12 to 3pm, an artists’ reception will be held, and Wise will hold a talk about his creative journey and his work, which currently hangs in gallery 2 and 3 of the main gallery.
At the same time as Wise’s show, artist Lamberto Roque’s reimagined exhibit “The Immigrant Experience: Remix 2” with several new works will be displayed in the Ken Cook Room. Roque will also have an artist’s reception at the same time, and will give an artist’s talk during the afternoon as well.
The reception for both will include light snacks and beverages, and children and families are welcome. Sun Gallery is open Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 4pm.
