The Aug. 8 Fremont Area Writers (FAW) free Zoom Write-In is all about mystery and deception. Respond to prompts to create twisted tales, mysterious situations, unpredictable people or strange worlds in a fun, judgment-free environment. Exercise your imagination as a warm up for the Fremont Cultural Arts Council/Half Price Books flash fiction contest in October.
How the Write-In Works:
At the write-in, the computer randomly assigns four writers to each Zoom room. Writers are given several prompts. Choose one and write whatever comes to mind for 10 minutes. At the end, each person in the room reads their response to the prompt.
There is no expectation that the writing will be polished or even complete. Writers are then assigned to a different Zoom room and a different writing challenge. After the second writing period, stories are again shared.
Besides the write-in, FAW meets on Zoom from 2 to 4 pm each month where speakers address some aspect of writing or publishing. The Aug. 22 speaker is Robert Anthony Siegel, who will speak about writing flash fiction. Participants do not need to live in Fremont to attend.
