Pop into the Artists’ Pop-Up Market on Sunday, April 26, from 11am to 3pm at the Fremont Downtown Event Center (DTEC) to wrap up this year’s April is Arts, Culture and Creativity Month (ACCM). Shop creations from over 20 local artists selling directly to the public.
In addition to the market, the Makerspace for kids of all ages returns; and new this year, two art workshops for adults age 15+. Enjoy live jazz while browsing the pop-up market and Wadaiko Newark taiko drums performing outdoors.
The City of Fremont presents its first free “Downtown Dance” event, also at DTEC, on Saturday, April 25, making the last weekend in April an all arts celebration.
Members throughout the Fremont community created vibrant yarn art to contribute to Fremont’s inaugural “Yarnbombing.” Yarnbombing is a colorful and playful form of street art that covers public objects—trees, benches, railings, etc., with knitted and crocheted yarn pieces. The project entitled, “The Colors and Textures of Fremont,” demonstrates how art connects community and brings out creativity. Due to the overwhelming response to the call for yarn artists, our initial exhibit expanded from one site to two.
Installations are at the corner of Civic Center Drive and Bart Way, and at the Fremont Main Library entrance, in place through April 30. All are welcome to take pictures and post them on social media, #fremontcreates. Yarnbombing will be an annual event in celebration of ACCM.
The online calendar at FremontCreates.com displays dates and locations of many other arts activities happening in Fremont this month.
