Letter to the Editor: Investment in DoorDash robots is anti-worker

Local delivery driver raises concerns about losing jobs to robots

It is with great dismay I see the reduction of more employment in the city of Fremont. This city has become too expensive to live here. Teachers can’t afford housing. They move outside of Fremont and commute in. I work as a para-instructor for FUSD and supplement my income with DoorDash, Uber Eats, Shop.

If California politicians continue to replace the human labor force then I expect those eliminating my employment to 1) Provide me with a guaranteed city and state funded income monthly, 2) Provide me with universal healthcare, 3) Provide affordable housing based on my guaranteed income, not including any income which is extra from my guaranteed income, 4) A reduction of taxes on those receiving guaranteed income, and allowing up to certain income increases, before additional taxation occurs.

If business owners don’t want to pay humans because we’re so costly and a liability to business then it’s time they are taxed appropriately and we HUMANS can start living more like the 3, 2, 1% of these mega billionaires.
