Ohlone takes a loss in overtime

Renegades go 72-69 against top ranked college

Ohlone College men’s basketball had an impressive game against College of San Mateo on Jan. 7 reaching the overtime clock, but lost in a close final score, 72-69.

The Renegades came out to a slower start at 12-2 the first five minutes of the game. However, after some substitutions Ohlone fought to take the lead reaching halftime at 29-28.

Holding a nine-point lead at overtime Ohlone held their own with a top ranked team, eventually landing them in overtime. Ultimately, the Renegades took a loss in the final minutes.

“We fought hard and battled to get to overtime but we could not get past our poor shooting,” said Ohlone’s head coach Jordan Lee. “We shot 34% from the field to San Mateo’s 42% . We were 58% from the free throw line to San Mateo’s 86%. I am proud of how we competed and battled as a group, but we were just one or two possessions shy of getting the win.”

On Friday, Jan. 9 the Renegades celebrated a  79-69 win against Skyline College.
