Pedestrian dies after vehicle collision

Twenty-eight-year-old Fremont resident speeds through red light causing fatality

On Saturday, Dec. 13 at around 4:10pm a vehicle collision sent a man to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Fremont Police officers observed a vehicle driving at a high speed in the area of Osgood Road, south of Auto Mall Parkway.

After the vehicle did not comply with the stop police initiated, police decided that not following the vehicle would be safer for the community.

However, a short time later the vehicle was involved in a collision on Osgood Road and South Grimmer Boulevard. The car ran a red light and hit another vehicle, which then hit a pedestrian who was on the sidewalk.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are waiting for reports to determine if the driver had drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of the collision.

The 28-year-old suspect, Antwone Spruill, a Fremont resident, was taken into custody with several vehicle-related violations and is pending charges.

This is Fremont’s sixth fatal traffic collision of 2025.
