Talent2Give hosts cultural festival for seniors citizens at Priya Living

Students dance and sing to lift seniors' spirits

Talent2Give (T2G), a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting talented individuals for community enrichment, hosted a cultural festival on Nov. 16, 2024, for the senior citizens of Priya Living. Performances, joy, and laughter, offering an unforgettable evening for attendees.

In the words of Jiya Kohar, founder of Talent2Give and sophomore at American High School, “I always find joy in hosting festivals where young, budding artists can [not only] showcase their talent, but also [entertain] our senior citizens. They are the most affectionate and loving audience, and their blessings mean so much to me. What better way to give back than by dedicating a festive celebration to them, with a fun evening of immensely talented performers?”

The event began with prayer and blessings from Lord Ganesha, followed by a soulful Bharatanatyam performance by Asmi Sharma, a talented 6th grader from Thornton Middle School. Twin sisters, Avika Pant and Navika Pant, also from Thornton Middle School, delighted the crowd with a fusion dance performance, blending Hindi and English popular songs. Kohar, the host of the evening, kept the audience engaged with interactive quiz segments on Ramayana and Mahabharata. Ms. Priyanka entertained everyone by hosting a karaoke session of classic old melodies, which transported the seniors back to their youthful era.

The highlight of the event was an impressive medley choreographed by the talented dance instructor Ms. Dhara. The youngest performers—Kiara, Isha, Sahana, Inaya and Soraya, a group of confident 5- and 8-year-olds from Warwick Elementary School—stole the show with their spirited dance, earning a standing ovation from the audience.

Talent2Give, a non-profit organization focused on community building, aims to bring together individuals with exceptional talents to raise awareness and funds for important causes, such as combating child hunger. By hosting events like this cultural festival, Talent2Give continues to foster creativity and goodwill, supporting both performers and the broader community.
