Fremont Art Association (FAA) will feature Ria Krishnan, accomplished oil painter and educator, at its virtual General Meeting and Art Demo on Wednesday, Nov 6.
Krishnan’s work is inspired by nature, and she describes her style as representational and painterly. In her demo, “Painting Landscapes Using a Limited Palette,” she will share her creative process and reveal the power of her favored palette of just primary colors and white.
Born and raised in India, Krishnan was fascinated by drawing and painting as a child. After earning a bachelor’s degree in electronics and telecommunication in 2006, she worked as a software engineer. Marriage brought Krishnan to the U.S. in 2010. Subsequently she pursued a career as an artist. With every landscape she paints, Krishnan seizes the opportunity to enhance her craft. As she puts it, “Painting is my lifestyle. It is a journey of a lifetime, and I am just getting started.”
Krishnan’s paintings have a magnetic quality, testifying to her capacity to convey her reverence for nature and desire to capture its majesty. Her engagement with the natural world is contemplative, and her keen artist’s lens transcends mere observation. Her emotionally laden paintings bring to light fleeting yet precious moments in nature and invite viewers to share in the experience.
Krishnan is an associate member of the Oil Painters of America (OPA). She teaches oil painting classes at PAL (Pacific Art League) in Palo Alto and offers online workshops. She has been featured in various publications such as American Art Collector, Carmel Living and Outdoor Painter.
