Ohlone College is proud to announce that the faculty senate has selected professor Becky Ozoa as the Faculty of the Month for October 2024, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the college and her tireless dedication to student success. Since joining Ohlone’s Business Administration Department in 2016, Ozoa has made it her mission to provide students with the resources, support and opportunities they need to thrive—both inside and outside the classroom.
With an impressive educational background that includes a bachelor of science in economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s in business administration from the University of California, Irvine, Ozoa’ professional career has been marked by leadership and innovation. As founder of Ozoa Consulting LLC, she has extensive experience in HR consulting, which she brings to her teaching and mentorship at Ohlone College.
Ozoa has been a driving force behind efforts to lower textbook costs for students, previously serving as the college’s Open Educational Resources (OER) Liaison and spearheading the creation of the first Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) Pathway for the ADT in Business Administration. Currently, she continues her advocacy as a member of the ZTC Taskforce, ensuring that students have access to affordable learning materials.
Beyond her work on OER, Ozoa has served as an advisor to the Associated Students of Ohlone College and now advises the Ohlone Business Society, where she has been instrumental in organizing enriching opportunities, such as a recent student tour of UC Berkeley.
Since the 2020-21 academic school year, Ozoa has chaired the Faculty Professional Development Committee, where her meticulous planning of Learning College Week (LCW) has set a standard for excellence. She also provides critical training and mentorship for new faculty members, further enhancing the strength of the teaching community.
Dr. Milissa Payne-Bradley highlights Ozoa’s kindness and supportive nature: “She is a true changemaker, always willing to listen and provide guidance. I’m endlessly grateful for the way she goes above and beyond for her friends, peers, and students.”
Outside of her professional achievements, Ozoa enjoys Pilates, scrapbooking, cooking and indulging in retail therapy—especially when it involves a good deal. Becky is a staunch advocate for women’s rights and enjoys being involved in the political process.
