Fremont Art Association’s October 2 meeting and demo will feature mixed media artist Adriane Dedic. In her demo, “The Art of Collage Using Fabric,” she will showcase techniques she employs in carefully and deliberately placing and layering fabric to create expressive designs and distinctive images.
Dedic has a degree in art from the University of Cincinnati and a multifaceted professional background including fashion design and illustration, advertising and marketing. Along the way, Dedic has cultivated her creative techniques through fine art classes, life drawing workshops and printmaking. Dedic’s proclivity for artistic expression began when she would design clothes for her cut-out dolls; since retiring, she has turned to her passion once more.
Dedic participates in art exhibitions and has won numerous awards. Some of her noteworthy exhibitions include Japanese inspired prints of geisha, which combine etching with digital techniques, at the Hakone Japanese Gardens in Saratoga and her textile art quilt, “Eve in the Garden of Persimmons in Winter,” at the de Young Open 2023. In 2019, Dedic was one of six artists in the world whose design was chosen to be made into an imperial fan for the new Emperor of Japan.
