What is “first love”? Maybe it’s discovering and experiencing an intense emotion towards someone. Maybe it’s excitement, anticipation and dreaming. Whatever it is, it’s a complex, interesting and euphoric emotion. As Al Minard, board member of Fremont Cultural Arts Council (FCAC) said, “It is up to you, the writers, to tell us about it.”
Learn about the thoughts of local people on first love, at a flash fiction contest at Half Price Books in Fremont on Saturday, April 11.
Connie Chew, president, FCAC said, “Flash Fiction is an exciting event where people can express their feelings real or imaginary through stories with the theme we have selected.”
Al Minard said, “The contest is open to anyone of any age. The one-page stories of 300 words or less will be posted on the columns throughout the store. Voting ballots will be available for anyone entering Half Price Books to select their top five stories.”
Writers’ names will be hidden, so everyone will judge based on content. Writers who receive the most votes will receive cash prizes and certificates to Half Price Books. The voting closes at 5pm. The names of the winners will be announced around 5:30pm and the details will be posted on the FCAC website the following week.
Infinity Care LLC, an organization that provides caring heart and quality service, will be participating by helping to conduct the event and provide refreshments.
Flash Fiction – First Love is being co-sponsored by FCAC along with Half Price Books, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Infinity Care LLC and Fremont Area Writers.
