High school girls’ basketball teams from all over the Bay Area will be converging at Newark Memorial High School on Dec. 27, 29 and 30 for the 38th Annual Newark Memorial-Newark Optimist Club Holiday Basketball Classic.
The tournament will be held at the Newark Memorial Event Center on Cedar Boulevard.
The opening day schedule for Saturday, Dec. 27, is as follows:
Junior Varsity Division:
9am – Irvington vs. Foothill
10:30am – Mission San Jose vs. Clayton Valley Charter
12pm – Valley Christian (San Jose) vs. American
1:30pm – San Leandro vs. Newark Memorial
Varsity Division:
3:15pm – San Leandro vs. Menlo-Atherton
4:45pm – St. Ignatius vs. Irvington
6:15pm – Lick-Wilmerding vs. Foothill
7:45pm – Aragon vs. Newark Memorial
Games will continue throughout the day on Dec. 29 and 30. The junior varsity championship game is set for 1:30pm and the varsity championship game at 7:45pm, on Tuesday, Dec. 30.
