The zombies are back to gobble up flags (not brains) for Union City Recreation Department’s “Running Dead 5k Fun Run and Walk.” The challenge is a way to get active with friends and family while celebrating Halloween. Registrants are encouraged to come in individual or group costumes.
Runners can choose a normal race, or opt to pick up a pair of flags and try the Zombie challenge. Members of the Union City Youth Commission will spread out at select locations along the trail and try to snag flags as runners go by. Runners who finish with at least one flag remaining will be entered into a special raffle for a Halloween-themed prize. Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners according to gender and age categories.
