Talent2Give is a non-profit organization committed to connecting talented individuals to inspire positive change. Over spring break, founder Jiya Kohar, a 10th grader at American High School, led multiple door-to-door fundraising efforts, selling handcrafted artistic items such as greeting cards, tote bags, bookmarks and wall art. All proceeds were dedicated to the fight against child hunger—a cause close to her heart.
In addition, she organized a “Holi Utsav” for senior citizens on April 21, with sponsorship from Sahana Kiron Magal, community director at Priya Living. Despite the wet and cold weather, the Talent2Give team’s spirit remained high, making the Holi Utsav a vibrant evening filled with celebration, joy and colorful memories.
The festivities began with a traditional Holi tilak ceremony, followed by dance performances by Inaaya, Sworaya, Aadya, Aneeri, Sahana and Vipra. Kohar served as the evening’s emcee, entertaining the audience with an engaging interactive quiz segment. A dance to a medley of popular songs, choreographed and performed by dance leader Ms. Dhara and her friend Ms. Vinny—both parents of students on the team—left the audience spellbound.
One of the event’s high points was the hand-stamped personalized tote bag activity, where attendees imprinted their own handprints in colors of their choice. The evening concluded with tea, snacks and shared laughter among generations.
Talent2Give continues to build a culture of creativity, compassion and community support. Events like Holi Utsav embody the mission to raise awareness and funds for child hunger while fostering joy and connection across all ages.
