The Newark Symphonic Winds (NSW), under the direction of Richard Wong, will present its free Spring Concert on March 21.
The evening begins with tunes from “Pixar Movie Magic,” arranged by Michael Brown. Following are compositions by Aaron Copland, Camille Saint-Saëns and Naoya Wada.
After an intermission we are proud to present the music of Montecito Brass. Their musicians include Mike Peterson and Alan Osofsky on trumpet, Blossom Santiago on horn, Randall Chase on trombone and Raul Dingle on tuba. They will perform two tunes: “The Girl from Ipanema,” arranged by Jayan Nandagopan and movements 1, 2 and 4 from “French Quarter Snapshots,” by Zack Smith.
Our second half begins with “In the Hall of the Mountain King,” followed by “Asturias” and “That Old Hound Dog Rag.” The final piece of the evening is a medley of tunes from American composer, Duke Ellington, including “Take the A Train,” “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore,” the harmonically rich ballad, “Mood Indigo” and “Caravan.”
This performance is sponsored by Fremont Bank Foundation. The concert is free of charge, no tickets are necessary.
