This year’s exhibit has been a labor of love, spearheaded by Valerie Caveglia, Hayward Education Foundation president (and former executive director at the Sun), and Dorsi Diaz, president of the Sun Gallery Board of Directors (and former executive director/curator at the Sun).
Together, the community has come out with major support for a new pilot program at the gallery, “Many Hands, One Masterpiece,” which will lead to 19 HUSD Title I second grader classes coming to the gallery this year. Class field trips at the gallery include a personalized tour, plus a teacher-led art lesson in the studio, based on artwork in the show.

To book a field trip for your classroom (grades TK to sixth grade) reach out to Linda at li***@********ry.org. Field trips are available Monday to Friday from 9 to 11am. In-class field trips are also offered, subject to availability. An illustrator from the show can also be added to the tour at a special discounted rate.
