New Businesses and Housing on the Block
At the onset of the pandemic, lockdowns, office closures and the transition to remote work meant businesses in downtown districts that were usually dependent on commuter foot traffic were at risk of closing. Now, neighborhoods are seeing a resurgence, fueled by community resilience. Hayward has been steadfast in its revitalization efforts, breathing new life into the downtown scene with fresh developments and the reopening of beloved local spots.
Situated in the heart of Downtown Hayward is the newest senior living community, Bellara Living (https://bellaraseniorliving.com/). With over 157 units for assisted living and memory care and 94 outdoor residential parking stalls, this senior living community will offer a variety of amenities such as a large commercial kitchen and dining room to serve residents and guests, bistro, theater, wellness center and gym, salon and barber shop, activity room and a landscaped courtyard with ample seating areas, fire pit, BBQ and bocce court. Coming soon! Lincoln Landing Hayward’s largest and newest multifamily community, is also soon welcoming in a new restaurant to their ground floor: Sourdough & Co. (https://sourdoughandco.com/). Along with their signature sourdough bread, the menu boasts a wide variety of sandwiches, salads and soups that accommodates to all diets and palates. Each item on the menu is made with fresh and premium-quality ingredients.
It’s Time to Come Together and Celebrate!
Not only will you find new businesses popping up, but you can also look forward to fun celebrations. Hayward Chamber of Commerce with support from the DHIA will be hosting Third Thursday Street Parties in Downtown Hayward from June through August. (https://hayward.org/events/street-faire/)
Happening Thursday, July 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., between B Street and Main Street, the street party celebration promises a lively evening filled with live music, delectable bites and sips, and local vendors. Those over 21 can continue the festivities in the beer and wine garden. Plus, the celebration will host a variety of family-friendly activities and stations, perfect for the little kids.
