Art guild launches 2026 scholarship program

The Olive Hyde Art Guild is pleased to announce the launch of our 2026 scholarship program, which supports its mission of cultivating appreciation for and learning of the arts within the community. This initiative offers financial assistance and motivation to students dedicated to pursuing higher education in the visual arts or new media arts.

Eligible majors for pursuing higher education this year will include: Drawing and illustration, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, architecture, animation, photography, film and video arts, graphic design, installation art, web design and user interface/user experience.

Key dates for the program include an application period opening in Jan. 2026, with a final deadline of April 10, 2026. The scholarship is open to senior high school students in Fremont and arts majors at Ohlone Community College, with students from each institution judged in separate categories.

Finalists will have the opportunity to present their work at an awards reception on May 15, 2026. Available scholarship awards include a $2,000 first place winner prize, the $1,000 Jan Schafir Memorial Award for one applicant, the $500 Project Mini Art Award for two applicants, and a $250 gift certificate from Blick Art Supply for an honorable mention winner in each group.

Comprehensive details regarding applicant requirements, all scholarship awards and the submission process are available on our website: olivehydeartguild.org/scholarships.
