News from Sun Gallery

STEAM classes, chickens and Dia de los Muertos

October is “Artober” at Sun Gallery! This weekend, Sun Gallery bids farewell to its September exhibit—and launches into the next series of classes and new exhibits.

Our September artist in the Ken Cook gallery is Carla Dozier, who blends media and storytelling in what she calls a “beautiful chaos.” Dozier’s exhibit will be in its final showing the weekend of September 28.

Following Dozier will be Sarah Sammis and her exhibit “Chicken Go Brrr.” Exploring the human condition depicted with chickens, the show runs through October in the Ken Cook Room. There will be a reception on October 5 from 4pm – 6pm.

Starting September 28 the next 6-week session for free steam Saturday family art begins. Drop in for classes from 10am – 12pm.

Sun Gallery’s Dia de los Muertos exhibit will come to the main gallery October 3 and run through November 2. The ofrenda (altar) will be set up and members from the community are welcome to leave pictures of their loved ones or anyone who has passed. The exhibit will open to the public on the day of the artist reception: Saturday October 5 from 12pm – 3pm.
