Attention all pet lovers and their four-legged friends! The New Haven Schools Foundation (NHSF) invites you to join the fun and make a difference at the Mutt Strut 2024. Set against the stunning backdrop of the historic Masonic Homes in Union City, the September 28 event promises a day filled with excitement, community spirit and canine companionship.
Registration begins at 8am. Enjoy coffee and breakfast burritos as you mingle with fellow community members and their furry companions. At 9am, Union City Mayor Carol Dutra-Vernaci will kick off the Mutt Strut, joined by the beloved characters Goofy and Pluto. Take a scenic walk or run with your dog along a route that meanders through the picturesque hillside. As you walk the ridge of the Masonic Homes campus, be sure to stop at designated lookout points for breathtaking views of the Tri-Cities and Bay.
For those who prefer a leisurely pace, festivities continue at the park at the base of the hill. Even after the parade, the fun doesn’t end. Capture memorable moments with your pet at the dog house and pet kissing booth. Connect with local organizations, including Washington Hospital’s WOOF dogs, Canid Roots (Silicon Valley’s first subscription-based raw dog food company), Masonic Homes, and Washington Hospital Healthcare Systems.
Fun and Games
The entertainment kicks off with the “Pet Trick” contest, where your pet can show off their skills on our playground equipment. The Costume Contest is always a crowd-pleaser, along with other games like the hot dog eating contest, with options for dogs of all sizes.
Supporting a Worthy Cause
While the event is all about fun, its true impact lies in supporting local education. All proceeds from Mutt Strut directly benefit programs to support students and teachers in the New Haven Unified School District (NHUSD). This year’s event is sponsored by Masonic Homes of California, Al and Marsha Badella, Washington Township Medical Foundation, Washington Hospital Healthcare System, Carol Dutra-Vernaci and Tri-City Voice.
Participant Perks
All participants will receive breakfast, an event t-shirt and a goody bag (while supplies last). For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.muttstrut.org.
