Narika, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence and strengthening immigrant communities, will host a Community Gathering and Resource Fair on Saturday, March 28, in recognition of Women’s History Month.
The event will take place from 2 to 4pm at the Washington West Building, Conrad E. Anderson, MD Auditorium in Fremont, and will bring together community leaders and members, local service providers and partner organizations for an afternoon focused on resources, cultural connection and community support.
For more than three decades, Narika has served South Asian and immigrant communities across the Bay Area by providing culturally responsive advocacy, crisis support, counseling and prevention education. The organization’s work centers on helping survivors of domestic violence access safety, resources and pathways toward healing.
The March 28 gathering will provide opportunities for attendees to connect with organizations offering resources related to healthcare, employment and volunteer opportunities. The event will also include cultural performances, an open mic, henna, community food and an ethnic clothing giveaway, creating a welcoming space for families and community members.
“We wanted to create a space where people could come together not only to access resources, but also to celebrate the strength and resilience of women in our communities,” said Shailaja Dixit, executive director at Narika. “Community connection and awareness are vital in helping survivors feel supported and empowered.”
The event is co-sponsored by Kaiser Permanente and Washington Health and is open to the public.
