Music with a Mission, dedicated to enriching the cultural vitality of the SF Bay Area through transformative classical chamber music, is excited to announce its 2025 to 2026 season. This season’s theme, Yin and Yang, will explore the balance between contrasting musical forces, beginning with the highly anticipated concert “Brotherhood,” featuring world-class cellist Michael Graham and acclaimed pianist Aileen Chanco.
The Brotherhood concert will take place in three locations and will highlight works from three iconic composers: Arvo Pärt’s (Estonia) Fratres, Dmitri Shostakovich’s (Russia) Sonata in d minor op. 40 and Frédéric Chopin’s (Poland) Sonata in g minor, op. 65. Audiences will be treated to a compelling and intimate performance that pairs the expressive power of the cello with the elegance of the piano, capturing the essence of both contrast and harmony.
Dr. John Prescott, noted music scholar, will provide a pre-concert lecture to give insight into the program and the significance of the composers’ works.
