Union Sanitary District’s (USD) Board of Directors unanimously voted to appoint Marty Kludjian to serve the remainder of late Director Tom Handley’s term representing Ward 3 in Fremont. Kludjian will be sworn into office at the District’s July 29, 2024 Board meeting.
“USD welcomes Marty Kludjian to the District’s Board of Directors and looks forward to working with him,” said Board President Jennifer Toy. “During the interview process, Marty demonstrated familiarity with the District’s services and strong support for building on its successes. Marty’s extensive involvement with local community organizations will be a great foundation to draw upon as the District continues its work to provide reliable, cost-effective service to customers.”
The District received six applications by its June 17, 2024 deadline. All applicants were considered during interviews held June 25, June 27, July 8 and July 10, 2024. On July 10, the Board adopted a unanimous motion to appoint Kludjian to fill the Ward 3 vacancy. At its July 15, 2024 meeting, the Board adopted a resolution memorializing the appointment. Ward 3 encompasses the City of Fremont with the exception of the area west of Interstate 880 and north of Highway 84.
