April is Arts, Culture & Creativity Month, a statewide celebration of creativity organized by California for the Arts. Fremont will have displays of art by Fremont Unified School District students, open artist studios, musical performances, yarnbombing, a juried photography exhibit and a flash fiction contest—all culminating in a downtown celebration at the end of the month.
Even those who don’t consider themselves creatives can participate in the Fremont Area Writers
Zoom Social Write-In on April 11 from 2 to 3:30pm. Anyone can respond spontaneously to one of several writing prompts in a judgment-free environment and meet a friendly community of local writers. The Write-In is free and open to anyone who wants to write in any genre.
How the Write-In works:
The computer randomly assigns four writers to each Zoom room. Writers are given several prompts. Choose one and write for about 10 minutes. Then each person in the room reads their response. There is no expectation that the result will be polished or even complete. Time to get to know each other follows the readings. Writers will then be reassigned to a different Zoom room and challenge.
The Write-In is sponsored by Fremont Area Writers, a branch of the California Writers Club. FAW also meets on Zoom from 2 to 4 monthly where speakers address some aspect of writing or publishing.
The April 18 speaker is Grace Loh Prasad who will speak on unlocking your memoir. You do not need to live in Fremont to attend. More information is available at cwc-fremontareawriters.org
