The Fremont Cultural Arts Council, Half-Price Books, Infinity Care LLC and Jack’s Brewing Company, Fremont Hub will be holding a Flash Fiction Writing Contest, on Saturday, September 28. The event will be once again hosted at Half-Price Books in the Fremont Hub. This time the contestants must write about “Frogs.” Al Minard, organizer of the event said, “It can be about real or imaginary Frogs.”
This contest is open to contestants of any age and residency. Entries must be 300 words or less, title included. Stories without a title will be assigned a three-word title with a number. Writers can submit up to three entries, but cannot submit fiction that contains plagiarism or would be offensive to the general reader. FCAC reserves the right to return entries that do not meet the criteria. Each entry submitted must be in 12-point or larger legible font, which will fit on a single printed 81/2 x 11” sheet. The author’s name and contact information must be on the back of the submission or on a separate sheet of paper. Stories will be posted with title only, but without the author’s name. They will be posted on the columns inside Half Price Books and everyone visiting the store on that day will be able to vote for their five favorite entries.
Over $150 in cash and gift card prizes will be awarded to those who win. Only one award per person. Submissions will not be accepted at Half-Price Books and must be received by e-mail or postmarked by midnight, Monday, September 23. Write the author’s name and contact information on the back or separate sheet of paper. To submit by email, send your entry as a Word or PDF compatible attachment to FC*********@gm***.com .
