Bid farewell to Summer in Downtown Hayward

Some new businesses and an upcoming festival to check out

Though Summer draws to a close, new beginnings are on the horizon – like new friendly faces in the heart of Hayward! This September, the Downtown Hayward Improvement Association (DHIA) is thrilled to welcome in new businesses and announce updates to established ones. Visitors and residents of Hayward are also invited to celebrate the season’s end with family-friendly cultural events.

What’s new in the neighborhood?

Recently opening its doors in July, Blend It (@_blendithayward) is a fresh addition to Downtown Hayward. At the heart of this new wellness spot is Mayra, a first-time business owner looking to bring new, healthier options to the neighborhood. This healthy eatery features a range of menu items from acai bowls and protein shakes to energy refreshers and protein coffee.

Osorio Training Center (www.osoriotrainingcenter.com) focuses on empowering and healing through boxing. Due to its growing popularity, Osorio Training Center will be moving to a larger location in early September! The new community gym will provide many of the same martial arts training and include upgrades like new punching bags, mats, a ring, mirrors and more. Classes at Osorio nurture youth and adults regardless of background and skill level. At the head of the training center is Robert Osorio, a skilled professional with over 35 years of experience in boxing, self-defense, and mentoring.

A Look Ahead: Celebrate Mexican Independence Day in Downtown Hayward

September 15 marks the start of Hispanic Heritage month, and Downtown Hayward is gearing up to celebrate! On September 14 from 10am to 5pm, B Street and Main Street will transform for the Mexican Independence Day Festival and Car Show, hosted by La Alianza de Hayward. The free family-friendly event will feature live musical performances from local Mariachi groups and performances from bailie folkorico and Aztec dancers. Attendees will also get to enjoy a car show featuring a mix of lowriders and bicycles. Families can also try arts and crafts and a variety of food and vendors.
