A comprehensive guide for Tri-City and Eden Area voters

As the 2024 elections approach, residents in the Tri-Cities and Eden Area are gearing up to make their voices heard. With numerous important races and ballot measures on the horizon, it’s crucial to be well-prepared. Here’s a guide to help you navigate the upcoming elections and ensure your vote counts.

Get Ready to Vote 

1. Check Your Voter Registration: Verify that your voter registration is up to date. You can do this online through the California Secretary of State’s website or at acvote.org/mvp. Make sure your address and other personal details are correct. 

2. Understand the California Voter’s Choice Act: This act, implemented to enhance voter convenience and participation, provides more flexible voting options. You can now vote in-person at any vote center in your county, cast your ballot by mail or drop it off at secure drop boxes. 

When, Where, and How to Vote 

1. Voting Dates: The primary election day for the 2024 elections is Tuesday, November 5. However, voting is not limited to this single day. Thanks to the Voter’s Choice Act, you can vote at designated vote centers from October 7 through November 5.

2. Vote Centers: Locations for vote centers will be announced closer to the election date. Check the Alameda County Registrar of Voters website for the most current list and addresses. 

3. Voting by Mail: Every eligible registered voter will receive a Vote by Mail ballot. They will be sent out starting October 7. If you did not get a ballot, follow up at your local county registrar to see if your information is up to date. Once you receive your ballot be sure to follow the instructions carefully and mail your ballot back by the deadline, or drop it off at a ballot drop box.

4. Ballot Drop Boxes: Secure ballot drop boxes will be available throughout Alameda County. They provide a convenient and secure way to return your ballot.

As the 2024 elections approach, Tri-City residents have a wealth of resources to help them make informed decisions. With a variety of candidates, measures and propositions on the ballot, it’s important to utilize reliable tools to understand the issues and cast your vote confidently.

Vote411.org is a nonpartisan tool created by the League of Women Voters. By entering your address, you can access a personalized ballot that includes detailed information on candidates and ballot measures specific to your location.

The League of Women Voters (LWV)

At each local LWV website you can find dates, times and locations of various events to learn about your local candidates and ballot measures.
