Read up on voter information and local ways to vote

Ballot boxes and voting centers pop up around the tri-cities

Today, voters are navigating election materials from many directions, some with misinformation, and even ongoing efforts that make voter participation more difficult. The League of Women Voters serving Fremont, Newark and Union City has taken rigorous efforts to provide clear and accurate information.

For those still undecided about local officials and the 14 ballot propositions and the Regional Transit Measure, visit lwvfnuc.org. The league has conducted candidate forums for Senate District 10 and for city council candidates for the tri-cities, and recorded them so anyone can view them. Also on the website is a video on the pros and cons of each proposition and measure, taken at an Oct. 17 presentation.

Additional unbiased tools available include VOTE411, Pros & Cons analysis of propositions and the Easy Voter Guide.

The league will continue working with voters, election officials, partners and the state and local league network so every eligible voter can participate and every ballot is counted.

The Alameda County Registrar of Voters has a list of places to drop off ballots at: acvote.alamedacountyca.gov/index.

Twenty-four-hour ballot drop boxes are located at local city halls and at most libraries. In Fremont, Ohlone College and San Francisco Bay University also have boxes, and in Union City Contempo Par and Holly Community Center have boxes.

In-person vote centers open for 11 days, starting on Oct. 24 and are open from 9am to 5pm. In the tri-cities, vote centers are located at Fremont Main Library, Ohlone College, Newark Library and Union City Apostolic Church. Additional vote centers will open on Oct. 31.
