On Oct. 8, San Jose Police Department responded to a report of sexual battery at a high school in San Jose. The 16-year-old victim reported that an adult male athletics trainer, while treating her for a sports-related injury, had assaulted her and recorded the incident on his phone.
A task force from the police department obtained a warrant and searched the suspect’s home on the following day, Oct. 9. They found child sexual abuse material on his phone. The suspect was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail.
An Oct. 14 press release from the police department identifies the suspect as Kelvin Chiu, a resident of Fremont. Because of Chiu’s position of trust at a school, the police believe there may be other victims. The press release states:
Anyone with information about these cases is asked to contact Detective Camarillo #4576 and Detective Widmer #4581 of the San José Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC)/Child Exploitation Detail (CED) Task Force via email: 45**@*******ca.gov, and 45**@*******ca.gov or by calling 408-277-3214.
