Now through Nov. 20, the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (HARD) will gather input on what community members would like to see in trails, parks and recreation within the district. The HARD service area covers Hayward, Castro Valley, San Lorenzo, Ashland, Cherryland, Fairview and nearby unincorporated Alameda County.
After suggestions are collected on the website, HARD will plan a series of civic dialogs around the most common topics, to be held over online forums and virtual dialogs. Insights gained from the process will guide the park district’s master plan over the next 10 years.
“We know that the people who live, work and play in our communities have a deep understanding of what makes our parks, trails and recreation facilities and programs thrive and where there are opportunities to improve facilities and services,” said James Wheeler, Hayward Area Recreation and Park District general manager. “This initiative gives residents a meaningful opportunity to share their ideas, listen to one another and help shape directions for the future.
