October is for writers

Practice writing skills at short Zoom workshop

Albert Camus wrote “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” The third week of October has been designated California Writers Week, so what better time to celebrate a “second spring” by starting a writing project? At the free Fremont Area Writers’ Zoom social write-in on Oct. 10, writers will use a choice of prompts to get those writing muscles warmed up.

How the Write-In works:

The write-in is completely nonjudgmental. The computer randomly assigns four writers to each Zoom room. Writers are given several word or photo prompts. Choose one and write whatever comes to mind for about 10 minutes. At the end of the writing time, each person in the room can read their response. Then writers will be reassigned for a second writing period, after which stories are again shared.

The Write-In is sponsored by Fremont Area Writers (FAW), a branch of the California Writers Club. FAW also meets on Zoom monthly, where speakers address some aspect of writing or publishing. The Oct. 24 speaker is the multi-published contemporary fiction author Katherine Sherbrook who will speak on the magic of editing and self-editing. All Zoom meetings are free and open to all. You do not need to live in Fremont to attend.
