Sunol Glen School is getting money to further support students. Sunol Repertory Theatre (SRT) presented a $13,000 check during the Sept. 8 school board meeting.
The donation would benefit the school’s art programs. Every year, SRT donates all proceeds they make from a play production to the school. Overall, the theater has donated about $250,000.
Their 43rd production was “Too Many GHOSTS,” a comedic play about a mom and a son who open a bed and breakfast and discover there are five ghosts living in it. The play was performed at the school’s theater.
Robin Spindler from SRT said the theater has a special connection with the school and the community. “Their production simply would not be possible without the support of the administration, the board, the office staff, teachers and especially the students,” she said. “We have students who act in the play, and we have students in the school band, and they play during all of our performances.”
SRT was founded in 1982 by Tom and Vicki Harland as a way to raise funds to benefit the education of Sunol Glen students. Other plays from previous years include, “Robin Hood and his Merry Men” and “The Rise of the SUPERHEROS.”
