Over the past year, student-founded organization Talent2Give has hosted over 20 community service events, while expanding its international presence through chapters in the United Arab Emirates and South America.
One of the largest initiatives has been supporting Kids Against Hunger. Talent2Give volunteers have packed 50K meal packets and raised funds to provide an additional 115K meals for children and families facing hunger around the world.
Throughout the past year, student volunteers have also organized initiatives focused on senior citizen engagement, cultural celebrations, youth volunteerism and community outreach. The organization hosted several community art sales, where handmade bracelets created by student volunteers Mihika Ghosh and Nirupama Balaji quickly became some of the most popular items. The success of the bracelet sales has since inspired similar student-led fundraising efforts within Talent2Give’s Brazil chapter.
Separately, Talent2Give continued its commitment to senior citizen engagement by organizing interactive events that brought residents together through music, art, games, and cultural activities.
In late July, founder Jiya Kohar and members Mihika Ghosh, Amelia Yang and Trisha Sharma celebrated South Asian culture through a bhajan and henna night. The event featured live devotional music by Piyush Nagar, accompanied by harmonium and tabla, while volunteers hosted a complimentary henna station for residents.
Throughout the afternoon, residents selected hand-drawn henna designs, learned about the cultural significance of the artwork, and shared stories with the student volunteers. The combination of music, art, and conversation fostered meaningful connections across generations while celebrating cultural heritage in an engaging and welcoming environment.
